Join us for an engaging week of mathematics education at Campersand! We’re hiring for multiple positions to support our program at UNM campus in Albuquerque, NM, June 20-26, 2026.

Camp Counselor

Dates: June 20-27, 2026

Hours: 7:30 AM–6:00 PM (approximately; outside of these hours as needed; optional evening social activities)

Location: UNM campus, Albuquerque, NM

Compensation: $1,000 stipend + travel support + meal reimbursement up to $275 + shared dorm housing

What You’ll Do

Facilitate a fun and engaging week for campers by supporting daily operations, assisting faculty with academic programming, and creating an inclusive camp community. Work closely with our head counselor and staff to ensure smooth scheduling and respond to camper needs. Counselors must be on UNM campus from Saturday morning before camp through Saturday evening after camp.

Who We’re Looking For

  • At least 18 years old with strong leadership and communication skills
  • Collaborative team player with a positive attitude
  • Passionate about math education and working with children
  • Flexible problem-solver committed to building the mathematics community
  • Prior experience with children or camps preferred but not required
  • Willing and excited to do what is needed to ensure kids are safe and engaged
  • Authorized to work in the US

Faculty Member

Dates: June 21-27, 2026 plus time to course plan, etc.

Hours: 8:00 AM–6:00 PM (minimum of two 1-hour classes daily plus leading a few labs over the week; longer classes by request)

Location: UNM campus, Albuquerque, NM

Compensation: $2,200 stipend + travel support + meal reimbursement up to $220 + dorm housing

Preparation: Course design, description, pre-work, outline, problem sets, and materials lists must be completed in advance of camp

What You’ll Do

Design and teach mathematics classes and workshops for exceptionally talented and motivated students age 9-18. Prepare course materials in advance, create engaging lessons, facilitate mathematical discussions, and collaborate with counselors, faculty, and staff to support an engaging learning experience.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Professors
  • Graduate students in Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
  • Professionals with a PhD or MS and extensive industry experience, etc
  • Prior teaching or instructional experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to design engaging, appropriate lessons for gifted young mathematicians
  • Flexible and responsive to student needs
  • Ability and desire to be available to students eager to learn
  • Authorized to work in the US

Math Labs Program Manager

Dates: June 21-26, 2026 (plus advance logistics work beginning ~6 weeks prior)

Hours: Approximately 9:00 AM–5:00 PM during camp week

Location: UNM campus, Albuquerque, NM

Compensation: $1,000 stipend + travel support + meal reimbursement up to $220 + shared dorm housing

Preparation: Supplies must be purchased and schedules must be created at least 2 weeks before camp

What You’ll Do

Oversee coordination and daily operation of the camp’s math-lab program. Purchase and organize supplies in advance, manage location setup, materials, and logistics, schedule counselors to facilitate labs, and ensure labs run smoothly and align with camp goals for hands-on exploratory mathematics. You’ll receive lab ideas and activity plans from counselors, scholars, and faculty who will run the labs; this role focuses on logistics, scheduling, and support rather than creative development.

  • Strong background in mathematics, STEM, and hands-on learning
  • Experience leading programs, labs, or workshops
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Comfortable supervising staff and working with children
  • Flexible, proactive problem-solver
  • Authorized to work in the US

Parent Program Co-Chair

What You’ll Do

Plan and coordinate activities for parents during camp. Work with the other co-chair and camp leadership to facilitate workshops, social events, and discussions that help families feel welcomed, supported, and engaged in the Campersand community.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Warm, welcoming demeanor and ability to connect with families
  • Experience coordinating events or facilitating discussions preferred
  • Collaborative team player willing to help where needed
  • Authorized to work in the US
  • Parent of current or former camper preferred
